Proposed Community Center Would Bring Wellness and Family Services to Southwest Denver
A new community-focused development is being proposed in Denver’s Westwood neighborhood, adding another layer of investment to an area seeing growing attention.
At 3851 W. Custer Place, concept plans call for The Alma Project, a new 7,772-square-foot community center designed around neighborhood resilience, family wellness, education, and maternal mental health services.
Designed Around the Community
The proposal would replace the existing structures on the roughly 0.46-acre site with a modern, single-story facility developed by Lifespan Local LLC.
Plans show a central courtyard and landscaped outdoor gathering areas, creating spaces that extend programming beyond the building itself. The design is being led by Point West Design Works.
What makes the project notable isn’t its size. It’s the purpose behind it.
Rather than adapting an existing commercial property, the building would be designed specifically around community services and the people using them.
Part of Westwood’s Continued Investment
The proposal comes as broader investment continues across Westwood, including Denver’s separate Westwood Recreation Center, a nearly 40,000-square-foot public facility currently under development near Morrison Road and West Walsh Place.
Together, projects like these point to a larger trend: investment in neighborhood infrastructure that supports the people already living and working there.
